چکیده

Owing to the complex forest structure and large variation in crown size, individual tree detection subtropical mixed broadleaf forests urban scenes is a great challenge. Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) light ranging (LiDAR) powerful tool for due its ability acquire high density point cloud that can reveal three-dimensional structure. Tree based on local maximum (LM) filter, which applied canopy height model (CHM) generated from LiDAR data, popular method simplicity. However, it difficult determine optimal LM filter window size prior knowledge usually needed estimate size. In this paper, novel approach morphology information proposed. approach, LMs are firstly extracted using whose determined by minimum then identified Gi* statistics out caused surface irregularities contained CHM. The retained final results represent treetops. was two test sites characterized different structures UAV data. sensitivity of parameter setting analyzed rules were On first site irregular distribution rate F-score derived combination values 72.9% 73.7%, respectively. second regular relatively small 87.2% 93.2%, comparison with variable-size algorithm, both rates proposed higher.

Tree-Species Classification in Subtropical Forests Using Airborne Hyperspectral and LiDAR Data

Accurate classification of tree-species is essential for sustainably managing forest resources and effectively monitoring species diversity. In this study, we used simultaneously acquired hyperspectral and LiDAR data from LiCHy (Hyperspectral, LiDAR and CCD) airborne system to classify tree-species in subtropical forests of southeast China. First, each individual tree crown was extracted using ...

Trends in Automatic Individual Tree Crown Detection and Delineation - Evolution of LiDAR Data

Automated individual tree crown detection and delineation (ITCD) using remotely sensed data plays an increasingly significant role in efficiently, accurately, and completely monitoring forests. This paper reviews trends in ITCD research from 1990–2015 from several perspectives—data/forest type, method applied, accuracy assessment and research objective—with a focus on studies using LiDAR data. ...

Automated individual tree crown delineation from LIDAR data using morphological techniques

In current tree crown delineation from LiDAR data, treetops and 3D geometric shapes of tree crowns are frequently extracted from LiDAR-derived Crown Height Model (CHM) and used as references to localize and delineate crowns. However, it is difficult to detect deciduous treetops and delineate deciduous tree crowns. The 3D shape of a crown, which can be derived from CHM, may be taken as a half el...

Detection of Individual Tree Crowns in Airborne Lidar Data

Laser scanning provides a good means to collect information on forest stands. This paper presents an approach to delineate single trees automatically in small footprint light detection and ranging (lidar) data in deciduous and mixed temperate forests. In rasterized laser data possible tree tops are detected with a local maximum filter. Afterwards the crowns are delineated with a combination of ...
